Microplastic Pollution – Drinking water and sewage sludge

Two reports published recently have highlighted the ongoing serious issues around microplastics. The first Invisibles – The plastic inside us by Global Media, revealed that plastic fibres had been found in 83% of drinking water samples taken from around the world. You can read the full report here.

The second report Addicted to Plastic – Microplastic pollution and prevention by The Chartered Institute for Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM), highlights the need to address issues around microplastic soil contamination through both road run-off and the use of wastewater sewage sludge as fertiliser. You can read the full report here.
