Proposed Marine Conservation Zones – Public Consultation

Defra recently launched its public consultation for the third tranche of proposed Marince Conservation Zones, which includes a further 4 for the waters around Kent at Goodwin Sands, Swanscombe, Kentish Knock East and Foreland. The consultation closes on Friday 20th July.

Providing data and evidence to Defra during the consultation

If you are planning on submitting data/evidence during the consultation you are encouraged  to do this as early as possible during the 6 week consultation, particularly if you possess large amounts of new data.

Natural England’s Advice to the Government

Natural England’s role has been to provide scientific advice to the government on the recommended inshore sites to help them make their decisions on which sites and features to propose for designation. You can find Natural England’s pre-consultation advice here.
