Southern Water – Bathing Water Enhancement Programme
Southern Water has identified the seven locations where it will work with local authorities, the Environment Agency and other organisations to identify and fix the causes of pollution preventing the bathing water from being consistently rated Excellent. Amongst the seven locations, are the beaches at Leysdown and Minster on the Isle of Sheppey. They have also identified the potential for a second stage of work at six of the 14 bathing waters which were not selected. These six have a possibility of attaining the Excellent standard and include Sheerness beach.
