UK Ramsar sites receive increased protection

As a result of changes to the Planning and Infrastructure Act 2025, as from the 21st May 2026,  the protection afforded by the Habitats Regulations to European sites (SPAs, SACs) now includes include Ramsar sites as well. See the amended legislation here
