Wild Estuary is a 6 week programme of experiential learning activities for children aged 7-11(maximum no of pupils 15), using the forest school ethos of play, exploration and confidence in the natural world. The six two hour sessions consist of the following:
Enjoy the Estuary (week 1) – An introduction to the estuarine/beach environment
Wonderful Wildlife (week 2) – To learn about and be able to recognise different plant/tree/animal species currently found on/around the estuary.
Creative Estuary (week 3) – Participation in natural arts & crafts, scavenger hunts and storytelling
Climate change & the estuary (week 4) – Learning about the impacts of climate change and what can be done to protect the estuary and its wildlife
Marine litter/plastic pollution (week 5) – Learning about the impacts of both upon the estuary
Our estuary (week 6) – A flexible session designed by the children
